Description
As yes, one of my biggest pet peeves with most of the retellings of Peter Pan (the other being that Neverland keeps you forever young): Hook's hook being on the wrong hand. It's his right hand. Peter clearly states this in the book. I was so happy when the 2003 live action one came out and the hook was on the right, and correct, hand ^_^Enough preaching from me, loving that "clawing" pose of Peter ^_^
Enjoy!

Update on lack of sleep: I actually managed to get a full 8 hours sleep last night, I think it was because I finally got my fix of Peter Pan.

Arr! Dun ya landlubbers know? A hook is the only way a REAL pirate cap' fights!
You know, I think the biggest offender at Hook-hand swapping was the Disney movie. I... just don't get why. I can figure that most live-action movies do it because their Hooks are right-handed, and so it's easier for them. But... animation doesn't have such restrictions.

YES. THAT IS MY BEEF WITH IT TOO >_< Their excuse was that a left handed character might "limit" them >_<
And then I think all the movies that chose the wrong hand after the movie took their cue from Disney ^_^;;

Yeah, pop culture tends to do that. Luckily, there are counter attacks that we can launch at pop culture!
However, I still believe the main reason with live-action performances was the fact that left-handed people are rare, and learning battle coreography is already hard enough on its own without having to use your non-leading hand.

True ^_^
Yes, I can see that being an issue. Hmm, I wonder what the first Hook did? I wonder if Barrie insisted on it being loyal? I should see if I can find out ^_^

Cool ^_^ I did read somewhere along my research that it was originally Mrs. Darling's actress who was going to play Hook, but then Mr. Darling's actor asked, and so they went with that ^_^

Oh, I knew that! Althrough, I don't remember if it was supposed to be meaningful or if Barrie just wasn't able to find somebody just for playing Hook. Or maybe he liked these actors so much he wanted to give them more "screen time", so to speak.

Well, if he was paying them, it would make sense to reuse them. In the musicals, Liza tends to play Tiger Lily as well.

Forgive me, TriaElf9, but it seems you've made a mistake here. In the original book, this sequence of Peter telling the Darling children about Hook has a narrative function because up until that point, Wendy, John and Michael only know of the Captain from his reputation as a historical pirate. They have no way of knowing that Hook now lives in Neverland or that Peter has made the Captain into his archenemy until Peter informs them. More importantly, up until this point, the readers haven't heard of Hook at all. This sequence is therefore necessary in that it re-introduces the Darlings to Hook and introduces the readers to him for the first time. More importantly, it informs the children and the readers that he's going to have an important role in this narrative. In the opening sequence of your adaptation, however, Mrs. Darling overhears Wendy telling John and Michael Peter's history, including the story of how Peter cut off Hook's hand and fed it to the crocodile. In other words, the Darlings already know all about Hook and who he is to Peter. This sequence existing in your adaptation is therefore totally superfluous because 1) it tells the Darlings something they already know and 2) it tells the readers something that they already know. I say all of this with the greatest possible respect.

Yeah, I know it's a bit superfluous, but the Neverland that they are at is a combination of their Neverlands, so anything that exists (other than Peter and I suppose the lost boys) is what they put there. Barrie is a bit inconsistent with how much the kids know, as when they arrive at the island they do know so much, and they know about the pirates, so they must know something about Hook. In this particular part, it never seemed to me that they didn't know the details about Hook, it was they were more confirming the information, like kids do ^_^
I did realize my mistake until a few months back when I started penciling this part, since when I first started out, I was unsure of how much of the words in the book I'd use. I recently went back and edited where they talk about Hook to fit more with this part. I figured they work out pretty well, since it's more just some extra details that Wendy had left out earlier. It's not perfect, and it is a bit superfluous, but again, that happens all over the book (like how Wendy knows who Peter Pan is, yet when he arrives, she still asks who he is). I was considering removing that page entirely, but I really liked the art. ^_^
So don't worry, I know where every mistake that I made is and I agonize over it every time I come across it ^_^;; Despite the few canonical mistakes I made on a few pages at the beginning, I hope you're enjoying the rest of the comic! ^_^

I can never figure out which animal Peter looks like, but for this page I'll say he's a little tiger. Rawrawrawr.
