Description So I had a dream about this fluffy critter last night... my intuition tells me that he is male and probably a German Shepherd mix. I woke up vividly remembering what he felt like, and what he looked like. I'm not sure of his eye color, I can't remember... I'm positive that he's a male. Anyway, a friend sent me a link about animal guides and it's possible that it could be an animal guide, which is interesting, because I was never really into that kind of stuff before. So we'll see, but I am super stoked about Aisling. His name means 'Dream' or 'Vision' in Irish, and I thought it was fitting. His name is pronounced "Ashling". I know he looks like a wolf, but... yeah I never drew German Shepherds before. He could be a Beauceron too. [link]

I never usually pay much attention to dreams, but when I dreamed about Aisling, I woke up with a profoundly comforted feeling, certainly something I haven't felt after dreaming. It's like that feeling you get when you cry after something sad happens in your dream.

I thought you may find this interesting: [link]

Aisling looks very strong, watchful, and protective. I hope you will get to communicate with him more and come to know his purpose and place, but as these things go, he will more then likely come to you.

Thanks for the link ;o; I didn't realize it was a female's name, but I guess Aisling and I have something in common when it comes to opposite gender names... lol. It'll be subject to change if I ever learn his real name, if he's able to communicate. I hope so. I really hope to see him again... I gave my hopes up because I wanted so badly to see him last night, but it never happened--or maybe I did, I just don't remember it. Ahh well.

I read up on totems and they say that there are certain guides that come and go, like life-totems that will stay with you forever and shadow-totems that would be your most powerful and whatnot, it's very interesting.

Aisling certainly is, but he was also very sweet and lovable and insisted on sticking close to me. Like when he licked my hands, it felt so real! ;_; I hate dreams like that some times though because I get disappointed when I find out it didn't really happen.

I hope he's not temporary.

According to many Native American beliefs, there are 5 main totems.
Above, Below, Beside and Behind may change throughout your life, and their position (direction such as above = north and so on) have meaning to that usually directly correlates with the medicine of the animal in that position at that time. (such as Above is many times a bird of some sort.)
The Fifth position, Within, is your soul, so for me, that would be Wolf.

Figuring those out generally helps communication with shadow-totems and your guides in general.

I wish I studied Native American culture more often. I have an unknown amount of Native American me, most likely Choctaw (previously thought to be Cherokee), but our family can't prove it. Although there is a photograph of a dark-skinned lady in our old, old old old family photos that we believe to be Native American.

Thanks for the information!!!

Wow, that is some dream! Some dreams can have such a profound effect on you sometimes. Like there is something you would have least expected to have show up in your dream. Either that or, it was unusually eventful. Those always seem to be the ones you remember the most.

I have had some crazy dreams I can't forget, and sometimes those dreams could end up making some nice stories. Which reminds me.. I need to find time to finish my characters!

Btw, that drawing looks incredibly cool. When I think about it, he does seem to have that mix you mentioned. Also, a Beauceron totally reminds me of a Rottweiler. >.>

Yes. And I had time to think about my dream, too, and I used to have a male German Shepherd named Ace who I loved a lot... he was abused before we got him, so he was a rescue animal. I think somehow he manifested into my dreams but in a slightly different form (from memory, that is). Ace was pure GS, and the one in my dreams looked like a mix. Probably a Rottweiler like you mentioned... I really don't know! Ace was a very subservient animal and behaved very sweetly, like Aisling. He always panicked when you stopped petting him... he'd fight and whine for you to pet him. Always broke my heart.

That's why it'd be good to have a dream diary, so you could record your dreams. But yeah, I tend to forget mine too, even if I want to try and record them. I heard there are certain tricks to remembering dreams, such as what you eat or how long you've slept, but I dunno.

Thanks for the comment Darv
