My scanner did something to this... its kind of... shinny... I wonder if taking a photo will look better...

So the idea here is to play with the lighting of the street lamps, but I wanted to make my background/lines a bit distorted and bent to give it a tiny bit of a twisted feel.

Anyway this is made from water colours! I know strange. I sat down with all intention of doing a traditional watercolour piece that I hate but after I had laid out my base colour I thought why should I have to do this the traditional way?
So I when on my nice experimental journey:

So I got my tube watercolour put the orange in to a tub and put the lid half on and let the paint go tacky.
While waiting for it to go tacky I put down all of the black in the trees and the walls.
I then painted over the black in the trees with the tacky orange which gave it a 3D effect, put in with both brush and the pointy end of the brush.
Then after a few layers I put over a very watery black which separated out the orange and gave me the definition of the leaves.
Then all that was left was to add in some lighting and shadowing in layers.
After quite a few layers of this I just added in some pen to define the lines.

In real life it has a much nicer 3D depth feel to it.

Woot! Rebellious painting! I kind of feel like Im back in art class going whatever, whatever I'll do what I want!
