Description
Second shot at testing out White Nights, this time on Arches NOT, which is a little on the rough side. The first time I tried this paper, I didn't like how rough it was, it just makes preliminary sketching very difficult and messy. But this time around, I liked how the extra tooth gave my washes more texture. Also, trying to transition myself to a larger scale (all my other stuff is mostly ACEO-size).I used pearlescents on the trail, which can sort of see in full view. Also, I employed the use of a color chart I made for these colors. It helps a lot in terms of seeing what and how versatile the options you have. I want to make another one for my 24-color kit, but I'm afraid I don't have a piece of paper big enough to fit the chart o.O (576 color yield).

I like that the boat is leaving behind a trail of stars.

Me, too. I'm glad you noticed them. I was afraid they didn't show through that well.

It's lovely!
I like very especially of the texture and that little character in her boat.
I think you could have got those clouds look more like clouds with lighter touch of paint on them. Some transparency or more specific source of light. But I like it even like this and can see them as clouds now that you mentioned it.

Oh, thank you. I'm glad you think so! I'm thinking/working on expanding this character. So maybe you'll see her more.
Haha, yes, I have a problem of overworking things, which is strange since I mainly use watercolor. I just can't let things flow and be . I had originally intended to make the clouds more defined with white space in between clusters, but... I just go crazy when I'm working without penciled/inked outlines.

That's great!
I have the same problem! I overwork EVERYTHING and I hate it. It's just impossible to let things be...
