Monster Islands largest native crocodylomorph is the Crested caiman, named for the hard boney crest on the top of the skull. A species from South America that made that arrived to Monster Island during the Oligocene.

Female Caimans dig nests in rotting plant matter in forests and jungle near bodies of water and can lay 40-65 eggs in one nest in which than hatch around 90 days later, they have a low survival rate in the natural world, only 7 in every 60 will make it to adolescence.

Primarily piscivores, they will also lay in wait for small animals to come to the edge of the water to drink, they will attack just like any other crocodilian, they can pray on animals such as the Eohippus or water birds, freshwater seals or small dinosaurs and amphibians.

Monster Island Caimans are dark green in color like algae with back spots on the back and tail while their under belly would be a dirty yellow. When not in the water the Caiman would rest upon the shore of a slow moving river, swamp, pond or lake and bask in the sunlight or wait in the shadows. Their population has been effected by the large herbivores that can be washed away during flash flood, the abundant amount of large herbivores have caused a population boom which equals out the new predators that can feed on the caiman.
