Description
Oil colors on canvas (17,5 x 24 cm).
Made for #pupachallenge October challenge by ArtChrysalis
Reference picture : , by Nasya-nassya
I forgot how it is to paint on canvas because all my latest oil paintings are on paper with gesso preparation, because are sth like on an "experimental" mode. It took double efford to cover the surface of the canvas than the smooth surface of paper. Anyway, I believe most people like the feeling of canvas and I am between using MDF(3mm thick) boards or canvas on frame from now on, for painting with oils. What do you think is better, MDF or canvas?
Here is a journal I published recently including pictures of flowers free to use as painting reference if you like:
Last rose of summer,A rose that lives at the yard of a surprisingly not yet demolished old house in order to be replaced by a block of flats, as happened with almost all old buildings of the city...,...captured in a photograph with a mobile phone camera, today morning on 29th of October 2022. Velvet looking petals with a really richful ..rose red color in the areas of magenta-fouchsia-quinacridone.,Mobile phone camera made some tricks of its own with the color of the rose's petals but I think that this is because the color is really special.,Same rose captured in Novenber 2020, two years ago. I took this picture with an old mobile wich again altered (more tragically) the color of the rose. It feels like both mobiles where flashed by the beauty of that rose.. I don't know why I notice this flower this time of the year and it always makes me wanna take a picture. It's a flower that blossoms during all spring and through the summer (I think...)."Last rose of Summer" a poem by Thomas More written in 1805, published in 1813 as a poem, along as the lyrics of a song composed for harp:,I like the above picture because it looks like it has the same effect on the flower's petals (there is no black ink) as the photographs on top of the journal. You can read at wiki about this poem and listen to an original version of the music:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Rose_of_Summer. You can also watch a more modern and beautyfied presentation at this youtube video. A bit old times music, I agree, but with art it's always good to expand our horizons and you'll have the chance to watch some paintings with roses as you listen to the music, plus the soprano:, @ArtChrysalis group has a challenge of painting a bouquet of flowers in a glass vase. The picture we are asked to paint is the following (I think they are carnations and I guarantee you as challenging to paint as roses)...,...and my artistic interpretation of the above picture:,For conclusion , a painting of a rose I made recently, trying to improve with painting flowers:,A-ba-da-bi-ba-da-bi-ba-da- be... that's all folks , see you soon with new artworks!...
