There are places like this in small European towns, and they give off such a lovely vibe. I like the way the light always moves around in these little canyons, showing up hidden corners.

It's taken from various streets I saw in northern Italy and south of France - I just liked the feel of these cosy little man-made canyons.

I was fortunate enough to visit some places like this in Europe and it seemed like a fantasy to me at the time, so it wasn't difficult to conjure up that mood when I drew up this idea.

I may just do that. I took some beautiful photographs while I was there that I have been meaning to paint, but I'm not all that great of a painter so I've been putting it off! But I suppose they would make good practice.

Here's a tip that I learned the hard way...never say that you are not a great painter because that is what you will believe and that's what you will end up as! Self belief will make you as good a painter as you can imagine...along with buckets of practice!
