↠ Catch the FlyPrompt:  At this time of year, there always seems to be an abundance of fireflies in the countryside of Veselia at night-time. Sometimes, there are events held to see who can catch the most. One of these events is being held this month, show your Abelsia trying to catch as many as possible!

  “Unf!” Scarlet snorted hard, stumbling as the slightly shorter, but stouter, stallion crashed into her side. “Le Roi! Would you knock it off?” The mare demanded. She pinned her red ears at him, swinging her head to shoo him away.

  “Ohf, sorry Scar. I’m just trying to-oh, wait, wait,” He exclaimed and scrambled up, hooking a hoof over her back and stretching. “I’m just, I’m trying- come back here!” He lurched forward, tipping awkwardly over the startled mare’s back as Scar half bucked and charged out from beneath him. The firefly blinked in and out of sight, drawing far and away from his reach as the tovero crashed to the ground. “OW! Scarlet!”

  “I told you to knock it off. I’m not your personal jungle-gym, you know.” She snorted at him. Her red tail flicked in annoyance.

  “Yeah, I know, but I’m just trying to get fireflies.”

  “Well you’re doing it all wrong.”

  “Oh yeah? And how would you know?”

  “Because I watch the little kids. They sneak up slowly, and then strike when the bugs least expect it. And why do you want to catch fireflies anyway? They’re bugs.” Le Roi uncurled himself from the ground and stood up.

  “Because they glow. And it’s fun.” She eyed his messy knees and shoulder with a soft ‘mhm,’ as he chuckled. “C’mon you’ll love it.”

  “Somehow, I doubt that.” Scar intoned with a roll of her eyes.

  Le Roi (didgerido) tossed his young head at her. “You don’t have to be so mean about it, Scar. It’s not like I’m hurting you trying to catch the fireflies and it wouldn’t hurt you to have a little fun once in a while.”

  “Actually, squirt, it can and would.” Scar snipped at him. He snorted and tossed his young head, prepared to argue with the chestnut mare some more when a flash of yellow caught his attention and thoroughly sidetracked him. The colt took off after yet another firefly, leaping and twisting and snapping in an effort to catch them. Why was this so difficult? The humans were catching them right and left!

  Scarlet watched the colt jump and twist, bounce and snap and often trip and fall in his efforts to catch the glowing insects. Not one success. In the ten minutes it took for his efforts to leave him sweaty and breathless he didn’t catch a single one. She watched a minute longer before heaving a massive sigh. She would deeply regret this later, she just knew it, but she had to give it a try.
