Huzzah! I give you... my entry for *bringonthethunder 's contest! I worked really hard on this piece, and it was a lot of fun. In the process, I learned that drawing beautiful swirly hair like BOTT is nigh IMPOSSIBLE unless you’re BOTT!!!! Lol, this was the best I could do! Oh well, I really like how the whole picture turned out. I even tried a new technique by using some textures.

But without further ado, here is EUAN! I think he'll be a great man for Celeste.

Name: Euan McCulloch

Species: Wolverine

Age: 27

Character creation explanation:

I originally had trouble coming up with a design, so I started with the adage “opposites attract.” Celeste is so white, pure and ethereal, so I wanted a guy who was dark, fierce and thoroughly mortal. Call me a traditionalist, but I didn’t want Celeste’s mate’s species to be a far cry from hers. So I chose a wolverine since it’s the largest species in the same family (Mustelidae) as minks. I read that wolverines have jaws strong enough to break moose bones, so this guy is pretty tough!

As for his look, I drew some inspiration from Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine in the X-Men films (little bit of a joke XD). And I had an idea that he could be in the Mobian military, so I referenced American Civil War officers’ uniforms for his outfit. When choosing his eye color, I thought of the Beast from “Beauty and the Beast.” And finally, I chose the Scottish names Euan, because it sounds strong and heavy, and McCulloch, because it loosely means “brave one.”

History, Personality, Story, and Compatibility all in ONE!:

Euan was born into a noble family with a proud history of Mobian military service. His father, General Ivan McCulloch, was one of King Acorn’s most trusted military advisors. Euan was nearly old enough to serve in the Mobian Royal Guard when Robotnik overthrew the monarchy in a vicious coup. Ivan, like Sir Charles Hedgehog and many of the top members of the old regime, was among the first in line to be roboticized. Euan’s dream to follow in his father’s footsteps was cut painfully short.

He spent the early years of the war with a ragtag group of those loyal to the Kingdom of Acorn, including Geoffrey St. John and the other members of the Royal Secret Service. Euan quickly rose in the ranks, becoming a key strategist and leader in the fight against Robotnik. Intelligent and soft-spoken, he was a true gentleman and a protective ally, but in battle, he was merciless. If SWATBOTs knew fear, they would have trembled before his brutal strength. But the strains of the ruthless war left him cynical, bitter, and seemingly heartless.

After many years, Euan’s rebel group joined up with the Freedom Fighters in Knothole. His strength and military mind were valuable assets to Sonic, Sally and the others, but he resolutely closed himself off to anyone who got too close. His manner was not harsh – simply aloof and brooding, but nonetheless, many feared him. His aura was dark and his form intimidating, so he was therefore misunderstood and left alone.

When Celeste appeared in Knothole and began learning about the world around her, she was instinctively drawn to this lonesome individual. She had never encountered anyone whose soul was so lost in darkness. Likewise, Euan had never met anyone as pure and innocent as Celeste. The two observed each other from afar, neither daring to make first contact. But her gentle and compassionate nature compelled her to reach out to him.

One night, Celeste happened to be taking an introspective walk through the Great Plain. Euan, wracked with the pain of his self-imposed isolation, aimlessly set off to find himself. And suddenly, the two crossed paths, and they simultaneously felt the surprised shock to look into the other’s eyes for the first time. Within his, Celeste saw deep despair, but she could also see that he was not forever lost. She knew that his broken spirit could be restored. Within her eyes, Euan saw goodness, and hope, and he knew right then that only her enchanting power could save him.

As she reached out a tentative hand to touch his face, a smile brightened his countenance for the first time in a very long while. Suddenly he had found a reason to live, and all he wanted was to protect this beautiful being and to stand by her side.
