I feel like Zane would have chosen to forget Garroth also, because of him always being shadowed over, and not being loved like Garroth was loved.
I think it is the same thing going on with Zane in MCD also, I feel like he chooses to be evil because of the way everyone treats him, and actually doesn't want to hurt anyone.
