There's lots of different types of parents in the world that annoy the hell out of us. Many people are annoyed by parents who spoil their children, as well as lazy parents who don't give a fuck about their children and insist that the television babysit them. But on the other end of the spectrum, there are parents who say "no" to just about everything, This bothers me because it's just plain mean.Everyone's probably asked their parents for something only to hear their parents say no. But some parents take it to extremes. Many of these parents only allow new toys on Christmas or birthdays. I can kinda understand if the family is poor and they can't spend extra money, but you see plenty of middle-class (sometimes even upper-class) people doing it. It's also okay if the toy in question is too expensive or if the kid's not old enough for it (or too old for it in some cases). But then there's parents who say no just to be mean to their kids. Also, a toy might be sold out by the time the kid's birthday comes around, so wouldn't it be better to get it now than later? There's a happy medium between giving your kids a few new toys every day and saying no to every toy that the kid wants.
And it doesn't even stop with toys. Some parents won't ever let their kids go out with friends. eat certain foods, join clubs or sports teams, go to school dances or proms, or anything else. Seriously, if the kid has nothing to do, they're going to be miserable and they're going to hate you.
It's important to set limits for your kid, but limits must be realistic and fair. Saying no to everything is shitty parenting.
