Description
LINK TO DECEMBERSVILLE STORY --> [link]The law of Decembersville, expressed through cruel masks: the Doll officers.
Felt like drawing a few designs, so voila. There are more, but whatever.
Dolls are controlled, masked vessels of freaks who dared defy the von Pyre Bros. and lost their minds, souls, will, and very beings as punishment in the Doll-making factory in the Chopping Place; themselves becoming hollow and manipulated by their vulture masters.
Some Dolls are intelligent, some are stupid, some barely have a word to say and are simply enslaved meat shields for their masters. ^^
The ones that walk the streets are aggressive and unjust with their methods. Like, if you resist them even a little then you'll already be propelled in a chokehold or get a gun in your face
Bodyguards are just silent shooters who don't look for reasons to really dodge death
Tammy is special, though. Tammy could think and feel. Sure, at times he is forced to take orders, but he actually has a bit of expression lurking through him, as if Chima refused to fully turn him.
The Dolls masks ARE THEIR FACES, folks
It will be revealed later that the fire in the Chopping Place is what turns you into a Doll. It burns away your soul and hardens you. Dolls don't go to Heaven or Octobersville or anything like that in the end when they die. They just... die. O_O;
You can save a Doll's life by recognizing it and saying it's real name, but it has got to be true. With the changed personalities and everything, it is nearly impossible to recognize a Doll at all.
I made the butterflies black and crooked to represent them as fallen.
I'd become a Doll for the free motorcycle
Decembersville (c) Andi

wait, so if you come up to one and say it's real name, it turns back to the former self and everything?

You have to know who it is with all your heart and say it's name. It means recognition, which means they get their identity back.

Ah, it is actually pretty simple! ^^ To make it very dark, I usually filled in the dark spaces with wet black pen ink; really thick, then went back over it all with a black marker. Sometimes the marker would make the black ink spread, sometimes it'd make a pretty fun overcoat effect. ^^
My scanner in this piece made things come out a bit darker than they actually are, but I think it was a pretty cool effect. XD

Thank you. It's going to take me longer than expected to purchase because the Zazzle page is reporting it's unstable. It's also saying my email address is invalid. None of this is your fault, I will work it out with Zazzle! Thank you for putting this up available as a print!

These dudes honestly just hit me out of nowhere for I make things up as I go along in my writing (which I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND, DUDE. O.O
But other than that, in general, I rely on my nostalgic VHS tapes and some good ole personal roleplay while lying in bed and staring at the ceiling to help me out. XD Kind of like "What if something like THIS happened? O.O"

*thinks* So if Tammy protects Sophia, and she recognizes him, saying his name out loud, he will turn back into normal? *now has a hopeful thought that this might happen*
This drawing is so amazing. Everything about it. The shading, the butterflies, the outfits, the dolls. I absolutely love their designs and I think they will be an amazing part of Decembersville when its animated. Every doll is so unique and they each have so many details to look at. I would probably have to pause the movie, and just stare at them all.
Hmm... I wonder... if Tin knew that when you say their name they turn back to normal, would he go around to every single doll he saw, and say his family members names? Think he would be brave enough? ^__^

CountANDRA In reply to Crusnik-O2 [2010-06-11 03:16:20 +0000 UTC]
That's a good thought to keep in mind when reading more about em ^^
Thanks, Crusnik I always like writing knowing that there are a bunch of bastard policemen running around snapping people back in line
I think it makes D-Ville a more dangerous-seeming place (which is good, 'cause I'm expressing its dark side through the story since its in a power-hungry hold)
Though, like it says in the explanation, it must be true. You must truly recognize a Doll with all your heart, with all your feeling, with all your sureness to free it from its slavery. So... if Tin was to do that - to go up to every single Doll in the entire city - he'd be dead before he reaches the third
And if that was easily possible, all they would have to do is take out a memo of names before a Doll army, call them out, and if they see a bright light in the crowd they'd be like "Okay, he/she is free to go." If there is no light, it'd be like "Not present? Oh okay. Killed in action. Oh well. " XD

Then I shall remember it!!
8D I actually really love the dolls! Even though most people would say that the majority of them dont have a really big part to play in the story, seeing as they are only seen or heard from a few times, but I think that the lovely horde of poor little freaks add a lot to the story. They add a sense of fear, a sense of intimidation, and also in its own weird twisted way, a sense of hope.
XD Okay. So. Tin? Don't try that >.>' *truly wishes that Tin would end up recognizing and saving at least one of his little sisters*
XD lol! That would be... quite the thing to see! lol.
