I think I am digging a pretty deep hole for myselfβ¦β¦The unexpected rival (?) and at Erebor, a Father and a Uncle realized someone was missing. It is purely family love between Frodo and Bilbo to me, but you can ship them if you like. I think losing his parents once may make Frodo afraid of losing Bilbo too.
