Only third on your list of favorites? Well, I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinions but now I too am curious as to who your first and second favorite Death Note characters are. 
As you may be able to tell from my icon Light is one of my personal favorites, the highest on my list of favorite Death Note characters actually. Matsuda and Misa as my second and third favorite characters when excluding Shinigamis. I find myself attached to Rem's protective nature over Misa but her fanbase doesn't seem to have nearly as many people as I wish, if any. ; v ;

My favorite is L and my 2nd favorite is Ryuk. So you guessed right, L is one of them ^^
And yeah, Matsuda and Misa are awesome too

Ah, I see. You, too, have great choices for your list of favorite Death Note characters. I like L for his obsession with sweets, although I don't think I could possibly fathom replicating such a feat, and I like Ryuk for his creepy yet epic laugh.
