Are-Oh-Eff-El.

Dude, Debu, that tickled my fancy greatly. All we need now is a Skittles reference with R. Mika. "Taste the Rainbow".

I personally consider actual laughing out loud at the art i work on to be a very valuable compliment; i'm going for humour, so to get this response is a real honour. Thank you for such a positive reaction, and thank you for the compliments.

*Blink, Blink*

Is your dream in life to find the pun so bad, the joke so cheesy, that anybody who witnesses it dies from the aneurysm their brain suffers trying to process the joke?

In all seriousness...

In all seriousness take 2:

Yeeahhh... I think facepalm and headdesk pretty much sums up all I could say about this. The joke's just that cheesy. So cheesy I think I got constipated just reading it.

Of course, a cheesy joke is still far better than an unfunny joke. So you can wear the funny cheese hat with pride, at least.

Face-palm and head-desk? I am honoured, sir!

As for the puns, there may be a stage in my life where i experience a joke that is so funny that people go from amused to dead before they think to laugh, possibly a bit like the classic Monty Python sketch; i'll spend the rest of my life on the run, pursued by people who think they're so tough they can hear it without being affected. There could be a movie, and merchandising... perhaps i could get Jean Claude Van Damme to play me, as we're both similar in terms of physique and musculature*.

Wow, sweet! Yes, i'd be very interested in having a look; i'm a huge fighting games and Street Fighter fan (particularly Third Strike).

Speaking of fighting games, have i told you about Digital Dojo? It's a DA-based group for fighting games players. More information at the link below, if you're interested.

I'm honoured that you enjoyed the artwork, despite not playing the game(s); that says a lot for me as an artist! There used to be a time - before testosterone started coursing through my veins - when i used to work on a lot of pun-art... i'd like to get some semblance of that back. I'm infamous for the mature art in the gallery, but it would be nice to be recognised for humour as well.

You're right, you are really good at that, making a pun that people can understand without prior knowledge. I think its a very unique kind of talent.
Lmfao I wouldn't worry about the testosterone thing! I know you better for your humour and of course your sweet impersinations.

Wow, thank you for the compliments; i'm personally of the mind that if people enjoy what i do, then it's worth doing. There have been times when i've wanted to be widely recognised for the art i work on, but i'm coming around to the idea that if what i do is enjoyed, it doesn't matter too much whether it's one person or a hundred.

Art, of any kind I think is always a personal journey but often is human nature to need some kind of reassurance. The important thing is that you enjoy making it yourself no matter what you're creating and trust me there are lots of people who enjoy following your work I've always been glad that we've been friends and I've watched such a large development in your life.
I meant to say this when I visited you a month ago and it only occured to me when I was in bed last night(weird time for any sort of epiphany to come to me but they often do) and I really meant to tell you how much I love your writing. I think its incredibly well written and your personality and humour is always a great bonus. You should totally consider gaming journalism aha. Thats something I've always wanted to do actually!

I'm with you! It took me so long to realise that developing as an artist and enjoying the artwork is more important than trying to please other people. I used to look at a lot of other artwork and be like "Why can't i do that?". But now, i'm able to appreciate my own style and work, and i can say "Well actually, i wouldn't change what i've got right here!". That's not to say that i'm not trying to develop, but it's more of a subconscious thing rather than empty longing.

I've always been glad that we've been friends and I've watched such a large development in your life.

Well, it's been an honour to have you there! I really value our friendship, too; you're one of the small number of people in my life who i'd actually miss if you weren't around. Maybe one day i'll stop being concerned about how much more worldly and experienced you are than me, and relax a bit!

Wow, thank you for your kindness! There was a time when i might have gone into journalism, before my period of reclusion; writing about games was something i really wanted to do, even before i got onto the Internet. But, i'm now travelling a different path; my interest in artistry has become a major part of my life, and it's where i want my future to be. It's funny how things work out, sometimes - i was all set to do something in computers, pretty much up until my GCSEs... i could well be one of the tech grebs behind the counter at PC World now, had i not taken ill.

No I understand you, it is a good feeling to say "I want ot develop what I have" than to say "I want to be like that person there" because its often unachievable and quite unrewarding. You're on a good path I think!

Well I certainly value it in return! But I doubt you'd miss me ringing you up and talking to my cat on the phone. Also this worldly image you have of me is such a lie, I'm largely just in persuit of Narnia. And yu know there is always an open invitation for you to join me on any kind of galavanting I do Debu-Sama!

Ah I dont think the two are mutually exclusive, jouranlism about video games in particular can be a hobby, there are lots of gaming sites that take on independant articles so you could consider that! I was always interested in doing similar but I am incredibly apathetic about any of my abilities. Its taken me 6 months to gear myself up to try to audition for leeds cathedral choir and I'm still to nervous to do it!

Thank you, ma'am; i am honoured that you think so. To be honest, i'm not entirely sure i could retain a consistent level of humour over a series of artworks... i'm sort of a one-trick pony, metaphorically speaking.

cardgamerdebu In reply to SoVeryUnofficial [2009-07-01 20:51:10 +0000 UTC]

For me, the actual drawing isn't the hard part of the process; it's having the inspiration to do so that i have trouble with. I go through long periods of time when i don't have ideas, and then i'll suddenly get a flood of them and be really inspired; not that i have a problem with that, a lot of the time. There are occasions when i get frustrated and want to draw, but on the whole i'm content with waiting for the inspiration to come, if and when it does.
