I wanted to take the time today and make this tribute piece to the man himself Akira Toriyama.

Yesterday, I was informed of his passing.. and it's saddened me to think about how we've lost such a legendary man. He has made such an impact on everything around him, and it's hard not to find references to his work in different media. His Dragon Ball series was a household name for us, and the DBZ anime was something that my brother and I bonded over. I never got hyper fixated on the series until recently. Back when I was younger, I mainly caught the episodes that'd air on Cartoon Network or Toonami. I also had a VHS that I'd watch over and over again from the Android Saga. A little fun fact about me, Android 17 was my first ever fictional crush. I was introduced to him through that VHS that my mom had picked up for me at a Goodwill.

At the beginning of last December, I had decided to finally give the series a proper watch.. and man I never regretted that series. I immediately started hyper fixating on it, especially during my time with DBZ. If it weren't for my partner and my best friend, I wouldn't have been influenced nearly as much to start up the series. So I thank the both of them for that <3 . Dragon Quest is another series that Akira worked on, mainly the artwork. Though I've never indulged in any of the titles, my brother and partner both love the series, and it's had a big impact on both of their lives. Though I'm saddened by his sudden and early passing, I can reflect on everything he's done, and appreciate how much he's not only influenced me, but those around me. He's influenced so many other artists and Mangaka to create their own stories and characters, and I think that's incredible. Thank you Akira Toriyama, thank you for everything. Rest in Peace.
