when shading, how did you choose the right/suitable color? the color that can match perfectly with the base color?

Finally found a tutorial that's easy enough to understand but still very detailed! Thank you!Β
Do you have any tips on coloring characters with black hair? Like, do you still use the same principle wherein you start with a lighter color?

Just how do you change the lineart color??
π: 0 β©: 1
AngelKite In reply to CiridaeWings [2015-10-19 14:00:00 +0000 UTC]
you must have the lineart on a separate layer then just CONTROL-U and a box will pop up. You can change the hue of the layer (or luminescence and saturation). This works in photoshop and painttool SAI; not sure about other art programs though ;;

Im sorry to ask these questions but there is something I notice in my version of sai (I pay for the official version), in the "texture"boxΒ I tend to see a lot of options while mine only has Watercolor A and B, paper and canvas.
I now pirated versions has multiple of them but I really do no want to risk infecting my computer (since this is a new laptop ad I don't want to break it > m <)
Even with the other box that is below "density" box, I am limited to just
Simple Spread/ Spread noise/ Spread/ Bristle/ Flat bristle/
pretty much just small options.
Another question I want to ask is about my watercolor brush setting.
I don't think its behaving the way it should.
Did you by any chance use a water color and then blend tool?

Hi :> your issues actually have nothing to do with the program being either purchased or not. Those are the basics that come with the program and the rest are all custom made by other users. You can even do a search here on DA for the custom brushes and textures and there are even tutorials about how to correctly install them. My watercolour is custom made by me, but again, if you search DA i'm sure you'll find a watercolour tool that works well for you :>

Question!Β What's the use of the Fringe? I work with Manga Studio and can't find it

(click on the image to enlarge)
In the tool property tabs theres an icon on the bottom right (ive placed a red dot under it to show you) click on that and a sub tool menu will pop up. then click on the border of watercolour tab, check the box shown and adjust the settings to your liking
