We all can write, its just what we do with it that defines us as being a writer from being something else.

Wow, I never really thought of it that way my friends have always told me that my writings are mediocre at best, no matter how hard I try...even with my extremely emotional ones that I literally poured my heart into.

Don't listen to them. If they can't give positive feedback, then there isn't anything worthwhile to hear from them.

In reality, some people are born with the gift of being able to write and some are not. Those who do not practice lose their natural ability, and those who did not have the natural gift can become better then what they would have been, just by practicing.

Pouring your heart into the pieces makes them soooo much better! it means that you are willing to tell people who you are. So many writers don't do that. Showing your heart in your writtings is a good thing!
