I like to think he was a child with common sense. He's so cute, and I like to think young sensei used to be silly sometimes. At first Morro probably took it too seriously.. Specially as his perfectionist trait started kicking in. I feel like it would have pretty early on, even before any of the green ninja stuff.

He wants to be as perfect as he can be, to be useful and "earn" his place at Wu's monastery. He would have been told about the wind master stuff before any mentions of being the green ninja I think, so he also wanted to be fit for that position.
