My oldest character, finally redesigned in a way I like! This is Devastator, he is my character Rithana's robot pal, and he's of a type of multipurpose robots I call Segmentrons that are manufactured by an insectoid race, the Intesites. Here, he's showing off just a few of his many retractable arms and attachments. He's got a smoking plasma gun, a grabby grabby claw, a buzzsaw and a plasma cutter.

This character went through many MANY different phases, he was originally a computer worm, then an AI, and now he's a 'bot. No matter what he was, he always looked rather silly. A big goofy grin, cartoony eyes, bright orange color. And any time I tried to adapt that look and make it appear more robotic, it just.. didn't look right. So, I decided, screw it, I'm gonna do something totally different with this robot. I looked to creatures like centipedes and bobbit worms to make a really creepy, insectoid face that doesn't really look recognizable. I also thought it would be awesome if between those huge jaws was a big eye. The idea here is that the Intesites designed it based on a creature on their homeworld. One element I really wanted to include was having his eye resemble that of HAL-9000 from 2001, a Space Odyssey. And I think I succeeded. The color scheme is based on Rithana's power armor, and I think works a lot better than a bright orange. Sorry, a bit long-winded. Anyway.
